Drink up! Rīga's potable water taps open

The operation of free-access drinking water filling points, or so-called free taps, installed in the capital's parks, has been resumed after the winter, the Rīga Municipality said.

The water supplied to these filling points comes from the city's water supply, which is clean, of good quality, safe for use and regularly tested.

Currently, the drinking water points are operational T:

  • Ziedoņdārzs,
  • Ūdensavots House, opposite Raiņa Boulevard 3,
  • Āgenskalna market forecourt,
  • Ēbelmuižas Park,
  • Dzegužkalns,
  • at the entrance to Riga Zoo,
  • Esplanāde,
  • Vērmanes Garden,
  • Ziemeļblāzmas Park,
  • at Vecāķi beach, Pludmales Street and Kāpu prospekts,
  • children's playground in Pļavnieki,
  • at the Rolanda statue in Town Square (Rātslaukums),
  • Jūrmalas gatve 133,
  • Voleru Street 65,
  • Mazā Vējzaķsala 17,
  • Kundziņsala 9, cross line 6,
  • in front of the Dailes Theatre.

The municipality pointed out that at least ten more open-air taps are planned to be built this year at:

  • Viesturdārzs,
  • Opera Park,
  • in the vicinity of Biķernieku Forest,
  • Central Market,
  • Anniņmuižas Park,
  • Uzvaras Park (by the wooden terrace),
  • Uzvaras Park (by the skate park),
  • Nordeķu Park,
  • Latgale Park,
  • at the promenade of Buļlupe.

More precise addresses will be known when the free tap connection projects are developed. The new open-air taps are planned to be installed by the beginning of July.

The locations for the installation of the free taps are selected in cooperation with the Neighbourhood Residents' Centre, Riga Water Ltd and the Housing and Environment Department of the Riga Municipality. Installation and operation is provided by Rīgas ūdens.
