A fifth of Latvians plan on visiting music festivals this summer

Take note – story published 8 years ago

A little over a fifth - 21 percent - of working Latvians from the age of 18 to 55 plan on visiting at least one of the music festivals in Latvia this summer. The most popular festivals are LMT Summer Sound, Positivus, Laba daba, Piens festival and the Festival of ancient music. This was discovered in an online study by the Latvian Performers' and Producers' Association.

Among other festivals interesting to potential visitors are Saulkrasti Jazz and Rīgas ritmi (the Rhythms of Riga).

From the named festivals, we have already mentioned Positivus, Rīgas ritmi and Laba daba (Good nature).

You can find out more about the Summer Sound festival (held in sunny Liepāja and featuring electronica and rock music) here, about the indie music festival Piens here, about the Festival of ancient music here, and about Saulkrasti Jazz - here

As can be deduced from the infographic below, it's mostly young people who visit festivals, and Summer Sound, Positivus and Laba daba are the most popular among the 1000 respondents who participated in the online survey, conducted this June.

Although Latvia's summers are rather "tricky", festivals like Summer Sound, Laba daba and above all Positivus, which will take place next week, are quite popular among visitors to Latvia as well.
