New Āgenskalns walking guide available

Take note – story published 2 years ago

Residents and visitors to the Āgenskalns district of Rīga might like to know there's a new walking guide to the historic and eclectic area that is now available.

Āgenskalns Neighborhood Association, with the involvement of the local community, has created a new walking guide “Āgenskalns Places 2021”, (“Āgenskalna vietzīmes 2021”) which introduces interesting places, and gives information on current audio walks (audio guides and art projects), as well as offering thematic routes and ideas for leisure time.

The new edition substantially updates a previous walking guide and encourages the discovery and appreciation of the cultural and historical value of the neighborhood to strengthen local pride in a part of the Latvian capital that many tourists miss as it is on the opposite side of the River Daugava to the more obvious attractions of the Old Town.

The newly created guide is available free of charge at the Rīga Neighborhood Residents' Center (E. Smiļģa Street 46), Āgenskalns Market, Riga Tourism Information Center, Latvian National Library, Kalnciems Quarter, Art Center "Noass", LU Botanical Garden, as well as other public places.

More information is available at the Association's Facebook page, where it is stated that an English-language version is planned for the future but not yet available.

Āgenskalns Neighborhood Association is a non-governmental organization founded in 2018 with the aim to promote sustainable development of the neighborhood and representation of its residents' interests.
