Three for the Weekend: Sibelius, Icons, Pinhole cams

 This weekend will be windy. Here are some activities which will hopefully blow you away in a different sense.

Sibelius' First and Rachmaninoff's Second

On Friday January 14 at 19:00 in Rīga Great Guild, the Latvian National Symphony Orchestra and pianist Anton Lyakhovsky will offer a breathtaking concert. The program includes Wagner's Overture to the Opera Tannhäuser, Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto no.2, and Sibelius' Symphony No. 1.

Pinhole cam workshop 

Until January 27, the exhibition Solargraphy is open at the ISSP Gallery (Berga Bazārs, Marijas Street 13 k-3) The Solargraphy exhibition is a reflection of Latvia's ancient sacral architecture and burial sites in the technique of analog photography.

On Saturday January 15, a youth workshop will take place with the exhibition's authors Modris Svilāns and Kristians Brekte, with the opportunity to learn how to take pinhole cam pictures. The workshop is intended for youth aged 12 to 18 and their families. For the workshop, prior booking is requested at [email protected] or by phone 28390708.

Icons in Liepāja

As of January 7, an exhibition "Icons" is open at the Liepāja museum (Kūrmājas prospekts 16/18). The exhibition introduces techniques and themes of iconography and its cultural heritage. The exhibition will be open until February 27.
