Pianist Mārtiņš Zilberts dies aged 46

On the night of July 3 to 4, Mārtiņš Zilberts (08/12/1977 - 04/07/2024), pianist, passed away, his relatives announced.

Zilberts was the acting head of the Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of Music's Concertmaster Department, as well as the principal solo concertmaster of the Latvian National Opera and Ballet.

In 2020, Mārtiņš Zilberts was nominated for the country's highest music award - the 2019 Grand Music Award for outstanding work in chamber ensemble, while in 2018 he received the Latvian National Opera Foundation Award for outstanding performance throughout the year.

The pianist's regular collaborations with many solo singers have been an integral part of his career, among them Inga Kalna, Liene Kinča, Kristīne Opolais, Aleksandrs Antoņenko, Egils Siliņš, Asmik Grigorian, Irene Theorin and Andreas Bauer Kanabas.
