Rēzekne heat cost highest in history of Latvia

As of May 1, the thermal energy tariff in Rēzekne is set at almost €200 per megawatt-hour (MWh) without value-added tax (VAT), according to a decision taken by the Public Utilities Commission (SPRK).

According to SPRK, this tariff will be the highest charged by the commission to date by any of the regulated operators.

From May 1 to December 31, 2022, the tariffs on thermal energy supply services in Rēzene will be EUR 198.13 per MWh, which is 4.6 times more than the rate of EUR 42.8 per MWh set up to date.

As of January 1, 2023, the tariff is expected to be marginally lower at EUR 195.88 per MWh.

Rēzekne's thermal network belongs to Rēzekne City Council. It was registered in 1994 and have a core capital of EUR 5.45 million, according to information from Firmas.lv. In 2021, the company worked on a turnover of €8.344 million and a loss of €967 240.
