The unemployment rate among males remained at 10.3 % in March, while among females it increased by 0.1 percentage points, reaching 8.0 %. Unemployment rate registered by the State Employment Agency (NVA) accounted for 8.2 % which, like the actual unemployment rate, has not changed since February. Unemployment rate increase may be observed when comparing the data to the March of the previous year – of 1.3 percentage points in actual unemployment rate and 1.4 percentage points in registered unemployment rate.

In March 2021 there were 87.7 thousand unemployed persons in Latvia, which is 0.2 thousand more than in February and 11.1 thousand more than in the respective period of the previous year when the first emergency situation in the country was declared. Since the second declaration of the emergency situation in November 2020 when a number of on-site services were restricted, the number of unemployed persons has risen by 13 thousand.
