Traffic changes on Lāčplēsis Day in Rīga

On Saturday, November 11, a number of events dedicated to Lāčplēsis Day will take place in Rīga. Traffic restrictions will be introduced during the events, Rīga City Council said Wednesday.

As of Thursday, November 9, 22:00 until Sunday November 12 at at 12:00, vehicle traffic will be closed on a stretch of Bāriņu Street from Uzvaras Boulevard to Hermaņa Street.

There will also be changes in the route of several buses during this time period. More information on changes in public transport routes can be found on Rīgas Satiksme homepage.

Saturday, November 11, from 16:40 a torch walk will take place from Riga Brothers' Cemetery to Brīvibas Square and the Daugava embankment. If necessary, the Military Police and the State Police will restrict or close traffic along the specified route of the walk.

The torch walk will move along the route: Rīga Brothers' (Brāļu) Cemetery - Varoņu Street - Gaujas Street - Miera Street - Brīvības Street - Brīvības Boulevard - Brīvības Square - Kaļķu Street - Līvu Square - Zirgu Street - Doma Square - Herdera Square - Bīskapa Gāte - 11. novembra embankment.

Stopping and parking will be prohibited in several places.

From Thursday, November 9, at 8:00 to Sunday, November 12, at 12:00 stopping and parking of vehicles will be prohibited on the section of the Mazā Nometņu Street from Ojāra Vācieša Street to Bāriņu Street, as well as on the section of Hermaņa Street from Ojāra Vācieša Street to Bāriņu Street.

From Friday, November 10, at 20:00. to Saturday, November 11, 11:00 stopping and parking ban will be in effect on the stretch of the parallel street to the Daugava embankment from Bīskapa Gāte to Miesnieku Street.

Saturday, November 11, from 7:00 to 11:00 vehicle stopping and parking will be forbidden on the street between Herdera Square and Doma Square on both sides, as well as Herdera Square and Doma Square, and until 14:00 by the buildings on 11. novembra krastmala 17 and Pils laukums 3.

Also from Saturday 6:00 to 19:30 stopping and parking of vehicles will be prohibited on both sides of Aizsaules Street; Varoņu Street on both sides from Aizsaules Street to the building on Varoņu Street 3A; in the parking lot outside the Meža Cemetery on Aizsaules Street.
