Expect traffic restrictions on Lāčplēsis Day in Rīga

On Friday, November 11, various events will take place in Rīga to mark Lāčplēsis Day, and vehicle traffic in the center will be limited, according to Rīga City Council.

From 17:00 to midnight, vehicle traffic will be suspended on 11. novembra krastmala, between Akmens Street and Muitas Street. Stopping and standing will be prohibited on this section from 8:00 to midnight. 

On Pils Street from Poļu gāte to Doma Square, on Doma Square from Pils Street to Jēkaba Street, and on the parallel street to 11. novembra krastmala from Bīskapa gāte to Jauniela, traffic will be organized in two directions.

On Herdera Square from 8:30 to 10:30 and Brīvības Square from 12:30 to 13:30 both vehicle and pedestrian traffic will be limited as needed. Traffic regulations will be in place from 10:30 to 12:00 and from 17:30 to 19:30 on Aizsaules and Gaujas Street crossing and Meža prospekts and Varoņu Street crossing. 

At 17:30, a torch walk will begin from Rīga Brāļu Cemetery to Brīvības Square and 11. novembra krastmala on the route Rīgas Brāļu kapi – Varoņu iela –Gaujas iela – Miera iela – Brīvības iela – Brīvības bulvāris – Brīvības laukums – Kaļķu iela –Līvu laukums – Zirgu iela – Doma laukums – Herdera laukums – Bīskapa gāte – 11. novembra krastmala. If needed, traffic will be limited on that route.

Stopping and standing will be prohibited from 6:00 to 10:30 between Herdera and Doma Square and from 6:00 to 19:30 on both sides of Aizsaules Street near Meža cemetery, including the parking lot, and on both sides of Varoņu Street.
