Traffic restrictions on November 18 in Rīga

During the public holidays, in Rīga, a number of traffic restrictions have been imposed, the Rīga City Council said. At the same time, on November 18, all passengers will be able to travel free of charge on Rīga public transport.

On Saturday, November 18, marking the 105th anniversary of the proclamation of the Republic of Latvia, several festive events will take place in Riga, during which significant traffic restrictions will be introduced. Evening traffic will be closed on the Daugava embankment and Eksporta Street section starting Friday, November 17.

As of Friday, November 17, at 16:00 to Saturday, November 18, at 18:00., vehicular traffic will be closed on the stretch of the Daugava embankment from Akmens Bridge to Muitas Street, as well as on the stretch of Eksporta Street from Elizabetes Street to the Daugava embankment.

As of 21:00 on Friday, due to the rehearsal of the military parade, if necessary, vehicular traffic will be shut down on Ģenerāļa Radziņa embankment and on the Krasta Street section from Jēzusbaznicas Street to the turning point outside the mall “Mols.”

From 8:00 to 16:00 on Friday, November 17, vehicular traffic will be restricted and, if necessary, closed on the Daugava embankment, in the right-hander lane, a 150-meter stretch from Miesnieku Street toward Poļu Gāte.

From 14:00 to 18:00 on November 18, vehicular traffic will be closed on Poļu Gāte and Bīskapa Gāte section parallel to the embankment.

From November 17 at 16:00 to November 18 at 18:00, freight vehicle traffic will be closed on the Eksporta Street section from Hanzas Street to Muitas Street and the Krasta Street section from Salu Bridge to 13. Janvāra Street.

From Friday, November 17, at 16:00 to Saturday, November 18, at 18:00 on the stretch of Pils Street from Poļu Gāte to Doma Square and on the section of Doma Square from Pils Street to Jēkaba Street two-way traffic will be organized.

From 10:00 to 18:00 on Saturday, November 18, vehicular traffic will be closed on Ģenerāļa Radziņa embankment toward Krasta Street, on the stretch of Krasta Street from Jēzusbaznīcas Street to the ramp of Salu Bridge.

Meanwhile, from 13:00 to 15:00, traffic will be closed on the Kaļķu Street section from the embankment to Town Hall.

Vehicle and pedestrian traffic will be closed on the AB Dambis from 7:00 on Saturday until the end of the military parade.

From 7:30 am to 11:00 on Saturday, a student March will take place from the University of Latvia to the Brāļu Cemetery. The procession will take place along the route: The main building of the University of Latvia (Rainņa Boulevard 19) – Raiņa Boulevard – Brīvibas Boulevard – Brīvības Street – Cēsu Street – Mēness Street – Miera Street – Klusā Street – Miera Street – Brasa Bridge – Gaujas Street – Aizsaules Street – Brāļu Cemetery.

A military parade and March of NBS units will be held Saturday from 13:30 to 15:00 along the embankment to Skanstes Street along the route Daugava embankment – Kaļķu Street – Freedom Monument – Brīvības Boulevard – Bruņinieku Street – Skanstes Street.

A torch march will take place between 18:00 and 19:45 on Saturday from the Kārlis Ulmanis Monument to the intersection of Raiņa Boulevard. The torch march will go down the route: Kārlis Ulmanis Monument – Raiņa Boulevard – Krišjāņa Barona Street – Aspazijas Boulevard – Zigfrīda Annas Meierovica Boulevard – Valdemāra Street – Valdemāra Street and Raiņa Boulevard intersection.

On the routes indicated and on the streets crossing the route, vehicle traffic will be regulated, restricted or closed if necessary.

Vehicle stops and parking will also be banned in several locations during the events, from Thursday, November 16, evening until Saturday, November 18. If necessary, the vehicles left will be moved to the nearest permitted parking space.

Between 20:00 on Thursday, November 16 and 23:0-. on Saturday, November 18, vehicle stopping and parking will be prohibited on both sides of the embankment between Akmens Bridge and Muitas Street, as well as on the parallel street of the embankment.

Between 20:00. on November 17 and 20:00  on November 18, stopping and parking will be banned on both sides of Aspazijas Boulevard, from Krišjāņa Barona Street to Kaļķu Street, on both sides of Zigfrīda Annas Meierovica Boulevard, from Kaļķu Street to Krišjāņa Valdemāra Street, on the right side of Krišjāņa Barona Street from Raiņa Boulevard to Aspazijas Boulevard, on the stretch of Krišjāņa Valdemāra Street to Krišjāņa Barona Street.

From November 17 at 20:00 to November 18 at 11:00, vehicle stopping and parking will be prohibited on either side of the street between Herdera Square and Doma Square, as well as Herdera Square. 

On November 18, between 8:00. and 20:00, stopping and parking of vehicles will be prohibited at Centennial Alley, outside the building on Kronvalda Boulevard 2. Meanwhile, from 7:00 to 15:30 it will be banned on Skanstes Street from Sporta to Krišjāņa Valdemāra Street.
