Traffic is blocked on the Liepāja highway between Blīdienė and Saldus as of 5 PM on June 25.
On Tuesday, the police received information that a road traffic accident - a collision between a truck and a car - had occurred in Blīdene municipality, Saldus county, on the 90th kilometer of Liepāja highway, between Brocēni and Blīdene. Three persons traveling in the car lost their lives.
Due to the accident, the Liepāja highway (A9) between Blīdeni and Salda (kilometres 90-91) is completely blocked, said "Latvijas valsts ceļi/LVC". The detour to Liepaja is on the roads Blīdene-Remte (V1154) and Kandava-Saldus (P109), and to Riga - on the roads Kandava-Saldus (P109) and Jaunpils-Osenieki (V1429).
The police urge people to choose other routes, as it is not known how long it will take to clean up the accident site.
Services continue work at the scene.
