Traffic toward beaches will be heavy Friday

Drivers should take into account that traffic will be heavy in the directions of the seaside starting from the middle of the day on Friday, said Latvian State Roads (LVC).

Construction works also resume on the Latvian roads. Currently, there are restrictions on 60 sections on the national road network. 

Major traffic restrictions on main national roads:

  • Jelgava highway (A8) from Jaunolaine to Rīga, speed limit 70 and 50 km/h, estimated crossing time 40 minutes;
  • Jelgava highway (A8) from Dalbe to the bridge over the Vircava River, speed limit 70 and 50 km/h, up to three traffic lights, estimated crossing time up to one hour;
  • Vidzeme highway (A2) from the turn to Cēsis (P20) to Rīdzene, up to seven traffic lights and a local detour, speed limits 70 and 50 km/h. Estimated crossing time 45 minutes;
  • along the Rucava highway (A11) from Liepāja to Bernāti, with road narrowing in some places and the introduction of two temporary traffic lights. The entire section takes 20 minutes to cross.
