Kaspars Vingris, head of the project implementer Eiropas dzelzceļa līnijas, said that the construction works in Latvia are ongoing at a steady pace. Active works are being carried out both in the area of “Riga International Airport” and in the vicinity of Riga Central Station.
Vingris said that the company has also focused on developing regional mobility points in Latvia. In order to ensure this, the company has announced a procurement for 17 mobility points in the country where people can easily switch between modes of transport, whether private or public vehicles.
The mobility points are planned in Salacgrīva, Tūja, Skulte, Vangaži, Rīga by Slāvu Bridge, Āgenskalns, Torņakalns, Zasulauks, Imanta, Jaunmārupe, Olaine, Ķekava, Salaspils, Baldone, Iecava, and Bauska.
Construction works in the regions will start at the beginning of next year but are scheduled to be completed in 2024. Vingris added that the costs of the works will be known after the end of the procurement contest, so not even the provisional costs are currently known.
