National Guard delivers patriotic message

Ahead of the Latvian Independence Restoration Day, the Latvian National Guard (Zemessardze) have created the motto "My Latvia. My Responsibility" (Mana Latvija. Mana atbildība), said the National Guard on April 24.

With this motto, the National Guard wants to encourage everyone "not only to think about the fact that everything important must be protected but also that the present and future of the country, its prosperity and existence depend primarily on the actions and initiatives of each individual".

"There are more than two million reasons to love Latvia - family and friends, hockey and song festivals, the sea and meadows, blue lakes and green forests, the sound of language and the breath of freedom. There are just as many reasons to protect Latvia, and each of them can be summed up in four words: My Latvia. My responsibility," said Commander of the National Guard Kaspars Pudāns.

"It can become a leitmotif for every person in Latvia, reminding us not only of our common responsibility, but also of our personal responsibility to protect Latvia," says the National Guard.

The graphic design of the leitmotif was created by artist and serviceman Krišs Salmanis.
