Latvijas Dzelzcels reminds that the total cost of the first stage of the railroad network electrification project is estimated at EUR 425 million, of which EUR 347 million will be provided by the EU Cohesion Fund.
During the first stage of the electrification project, three railroad lines will be electrified by the end of 2023: Daugavpils-Krustpils, Rezekne-Krustpils, and Krustpils-Riga.
The three lines' power supply systems, overhead line systems, signals and interlocking systems, communication systems, technical safety systems, buildings and facilities will be reconstructed or built anew, thereby ensuring complete electrification of one transit corridor by 2023.
Latvijas Dzelzcels is at the moment holding talks with the European Investment Bank to secure a loan for co-financing the project.
