On Monday, August 31, even as talks about forming a new city council got under way, the interim administration of the Rīga City Council decided to transfer to the Ministry of Transport, free of charge, 18 plots of land owned by the city municipality or parts thereof, which are necessary for the construction and operation of the Rail Baltica transport infrastructure project.

In total, the municipality will hand over 18 different plots of land in Prāgas Street, Centrāltirgus Street, Krasta Street, Jelgavas Street, Mūkusalas Street and elsewhere with a total area of 8,205 m 2  free of charge .

The transfer agreement stipulates that the land use rights are valid as long as the public railway infrastructure facilities built for the needs of Rail Baltica are located on the real estate, preventing their use for other means.
