Conference to mark 20 years of Latvia's EU membership

On 7 November 2024, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs hosts a conference, “The Future of the European Union and Latvia’s Interests” in cooperation with the Latvian Institute of International Affairs, the ministry said in a press release November 2.

"Its aim is to stimulate a public discussion about the various challenges of the future of the European Union and the role and interests of Latvia in shaping the EU’s future. The event will address topics such as the enlargement of the European Union, ensuring security and stability, promotion of competitiveness, achieving sustainable economic and climate objectives," the release said.

The discussion will gather people from the usual fields: think tanks, the media, public administration, civil society and business.

At the event, the Latvian Institute of International Affairs will also provide an insight into its recent publication, "Latvia's Vision of EU 2030".

The event will be streamed on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs website, its social media accounts on LinkedIn, Facebook and YouTube, as well as here on Latvia’s public media portal, LSM.
