The ambassadors have been invited by the State Secretary Andris Pelšs on this traditional tour organised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to explore a region in Latvia.
"The ambassadors will learn about opportunities for economic cooperation in the region as well as gaining an insight into its culture and history," the Ministry said.
The visitors will stop off in Līvāni and Daugavpils - including the Daugavpils Mark Rothko Art Centre - before returning to the big city to dash off urgent reports to their capitals describing what is to be found in Latvia's eastern region.
The best-behaved diplomats will likely sit up front taking notes, while others may form an impromptu card school in the back seats and gesture to passing motorists. This is pure speculation.
Last year, ambassadors had the opportunity to explore Kurzeme, and before that, the Vidzeme and Zemgale regions, so any envoys here for four years will now have a full set of Latvian regional memories.
Riga hosts 37 embassies along with eight international organisations and their representative offices; there are also 92 non-resident embassies.
