According to early reports, a section of a road bridge collapsed during a storm.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has opened a hotline for any Latvian residents who are in Italy and are affected by the disaster or require consular assistance. The ministry also invited Latvian nationals in the area to let loved ones know they are safe.
