Latvian Armed Forces participate in 'Neptune Strike 2023'

November 10 will see military exercises dubbed 'Neptune Strike 2023' taking place in Latvia within the framework of NATO's increased vigilance activities.

Close Air Support Controllers will conduct exercises in cooperation with allied aircraft in support of land operations in order to strengthen Latvia's defense capabilities within the NATO collective defense plan, according to a release from the National Armed Forces (NBS).

"Neptune Strike 2023" will also involve the Mechanized Infantry Brigade of the National Armed Forces and the battle group of NATO's extended presence in Latvia with the aim of strengthening mutual cooperation and procedures for requesting close air support.

According to NATO, Neptune Strike is "a multi-domain vigilance activity, an unscripted maritime exercise, that hones NATO’s ability to integrate maritime capabilities including carrier strike groups to support Allied defence."
