On December 2, at the Ādaži airfield, Defense Minister Artis Pabriks inspected two brand new "Tarragon" light aircraft manufactured by the Latvian company SIA "Pelegrin", purchased by the National Armed Forces.

"Thanks to the cooperation between the defense industry and the military industry, not only the automobile industry has been revived in Latvia, but also the production of airplanes. We can be proud of what our makers have done, following in the footsteps of the legendary constructor Kārlis Irbīte - many countries around the world are already showing interest in the models produced by the company," said Pabriks.

From the Ādaži airfield, Air Force pilots with "Tarragon" planes made a flight to the aviation base of the National Armed Forces, at Lielvārde, where the new aircraft will be permanently stationed.

The small, light aircraft will be used for pilot and crew training, as well as for maintaining qualifications and ensuring operational tasks.

The Tarragon is a two-seater plane with a top speed of 370 kilometers per hour, a range of 1,300 km and a ceiling of 3,500 meters. It can operate from very small airstrips with a landing distance on asphalt surfaces of just 150 meters, and a minimum take-off distance of 225 meters. Both wingspan and plane length are comfortably under 8 meters.
