Sirens will sound in Latvia Monday morning

The State Fire and Rescue Service (VUGD) has announced that on Monday, June 28, that it would test its alarms between 10:00 and 10:20 in the morning.

There are 164 alarms installed throughout Latvia that can be heard within a 1.5-kilometer radius. 

The alarms will be switched on throughout the country in the morning between 10:00 and 10:20 for three minutes for a test run. Residents are asked not to worry.

The alarms serve the purpose of warning residents about a nature or technogenic disaster in case one occurs.
