Two detained for illegally crossing Latvia-Belarus border

On Tuesday, October 26, two people were detained for having crossed the Latvian-Belarusian border illegally. The Border Guard allowed these people in citing humanitarian reasons.

404 persons have been detained for illegally crossing the border this year, 295 of which came in the timeframe from August 6 to 10, and 52 of which came after the announcement of the state of emergency.

18 people's attempts of illegally crossing the Latvian-Belarusian State border were prevented October 26.

Since the announcement of the state of emergency on the Latvia-Belarus border August 10, the Border Guard has prevented 1,948 persons from crossing the border. The state of emergency lasts until February 10, 2022.
