19 deaths, 712 new Covid cases Thursday

Another 712 new cases of Covid-19 infection were added to Latvia's total on December 2, according to the latest figures from the Disease Prevention and Control Center (SPKC).

Of the new cases, 423 were unvaccinated persons, or persons not fully vaccinated, and 289 were fully vaccinated. The total number of cases detected since the start of the pandemic now stands at 255,402. 

Of the 11,014 tests carried out in the past 24 hours, 6.5% were positive. The 14-day cumulative morbidity rate per 100,000 population continued to decline from 599.5 Wednesday to 572.6 Thursday.

Sadly 19 more Covid-related deaths were also confirmed. One of the victims was aged under 50 years. None of the fatalities were fully vaccinated individuals. The total death toll since the start of the pandemic now stands at 4,232.

Wednesday data show 814 patients being treated in hospital with 144 patients displaying serious symptoms.

In Estonia the last 24 hours brought 521 cases and 5 deaths, while in Lithuania there were 1,813 cases and 20 deaths.

If you have been fully vaccinated against Covid-19, or you have fully recovered from a confirmed case of it, you can obtain a digital certificate attesting to your status at the website https://covid19sertifikats.lv.

Latvia is also part of the European Union's wider Covid-19 certification scheme. All arrivals to the country (including returnees) need to fill in an electronic declaration prior to coming to Latvia.
