43 more Covid deaths recorded Tuesday in Latvia

Take note – story published 2 years ago

A total of 1,884 new cases of Covid-19 infection were added to Latvia's tally November 2, according to the Disease Prevention and Control Center (SPKC).

Of that number, 1,241 were unvaccinated persons, or persons not fully vaccinated, and 643 were fully vaccinated. The total number of cases detected since the start of the pandemic now stands at 221,795.

Of 21,789 tests carried out in the past 24 hours, 8.6% were positive. The 14-day cumulative morbidity rate per 100,000 population remained almost unchanged from 1745.3 Monday to 1746.9 Tuesday.

Sadly 43 more Covid-related deaths were also confirmed, the third-highest daily death toll of the pandemic. The youngest of the victims were in the 30-39 years age bracket and the oldest in the 90-99 years age bracket. All but three of the fatalities were unvaccinated or not fully vaccinated.

The death toll since the start of the pandemic now stands at 3,309.

The level of hospitalizations continues to be a key indicator as hospitals are stretched to full capacity. Tuesday data show 1,578 patients being treated in hospital (slightly down on Monday's record 1,592 patients) with 188 displaying serious symptoms.

Meanwhile in Estonia more than 1,500 cases and ten deaths were recorded Tuesday and in Lithuania the figures were more than 2,000 cases and 23 deaths.
