Four Covid-19 deaths in Latvia Tuesday

Four deaths from Covid-19 have been recorded during the past 24 hours in Latvia, according to the Disease Prevention and Control Center (SPKC) on August 9.

Of 6,590 tests carried out over the past day, 26.3% were positive, resulting in 1,731 confirmed new cases of infection. The 14-day cumulative incidence rate per 100,000 population rose from 1004.4 Monday to 1023.8 Tuesday, the highest rate since the beginning of April.


Since the beginning of the pandemic, 875,821 Covid-19 cases have now been recorded among Latvia's 1.9 million population.

The total death toll since the beginning of the pandemic stands at 5,905. The four latest victims were all aged 80 and over.

Monday hospital data from the National Health Service (NVD) show 227 patients being treated in hospitals, one of whom is displaying serious symptoms.
