Friday brought 2,142 cases of Covid-19, the third-highest number in a single day. The figures were higher only on Thursday and Wednesday of the same week.
Of positive cases confirmed Thursday, 1,678 were unvaccinated persons, or persons not fully vaccinated, and 464 were fully vaccinated. The total number of cases detected since the start of the pandemic now stands at 180,440.
Of 20,050 tests carried out in the past 24 hours, 10.7% were positive.

The 14-day cumulative infection rate per 100,000 inhabitants continued its rapid increase, leaping from 1,056.8 Thursday to 1110.4 Friday, which further raises the level of the highest figure since the start of the pandemic.
Sadly, there was also confirmation of 12 more Covid-related deaths. All of the deceased were aged over 50 years. The death toll since the start of the pandemic now stands at 2,869.
With the infection wave continuing to strengthen, the level of hospitalizations continues to be a focus of attention as hospitals come under intense pressure. According to latest available data, there are currently 980 patients with Covid-19 in Latvia's hospitals, of whom 123 have severe symptoms of the disease.
The epidemiological situation in all three Baltic states continues to be grave. Lithuania recorded 2,736 cases during the last 24 hours and Estonia recorded 1,277 cases.
