1,127 new cases were confirmed by the Disease Prevention and Control Center (SPKC). Of the positive cases, 876 were unvaccinated persons, or persons not fully vaccinated, and 251 were fully vaccinated.
The total number of cases detected since the start of the pandemic now stands at 159,418.
Of 25,460 tests carried out in the past 24 hours, 4.4% were positive.
The 14-day cumulative infection rate per 100,000 inhabitants jumped again from 486.5 Thursday to 517.8 Friday, meaning it has gone from below 400 to above 500 in less than a week.

There was also confirmation of four Covid-related deaths. All of the deceased were aged 70 years and above.
The death toll since the start of the pandemic now stands at 2,721.
With the infection wave continuing to strengthen, the level of hospitalizations is becoming more of a focus. According to the latest available figures there are 518 people being treated for Covid-19 symptoms in Latvian hospitals, of which number 65 are displaying serious symptoms.

There is a Latvian language hotline 8989 which allows people to both register for vaccination and receive answers to questions about the process of vaccination.
If you have been fully vaccinated against Covid-19, or you have fully recovered from a confirmed case of it, you can obtain a digital certificate attesting to your status at the website https://covid19sertifikats.lv/.
Latvia is also part of the European Union's wider Covid-19 certification scheme.
All arrivals to the country (including returnees) need to fill in an electronic declaration prior to coming to Latvia. It is available at the website covidpass.lv.
