Over 12,600 seniors have been vaccinated against Covid-19 in Latvia

As of Wednesday, more than 12,600 seniors over the age of 70 have received at least the first dose of vaccine against Covid-19 in Latvia, the Vaccination Project Bureau said March 3.

In addition, more than 5,250 residents and 2,253 employees of social care centers have received vaccines.

The Ministry of Health invites all Latvian seniors over the age of 70 who have not yet applied for their vaccine against Covid-19 to sign up by phone 8989 or on the site “manavakcina.lv.

Vaccination Project Bureau said that since March 1, the capacity of the free phone line 8989 has also been significantly increased. The telephone line is designed for people who, for objective reasons, do not have the option to use the “manavakcina.lv” site. At present, in 91% of cases the waiting time for calls is below 15 seconds.

Vaccination of seniors in Latvia began February 21.

As of March 2, in Latvia 48,709 persons had got their first jab against Covid-19, of those 17,535 had got both shots, according to National Health Service (NVD).
