Following the decisions taken by the State Agency of Medicines (ZVA), on Tuesday, February 21, the government supported a total of €30,000 in compensation costs for four people in relation to severe and moderate health damage caused by adverse reactions to the vaccine against Covid-19, the Ministry of Health said.

At the beginning of this year, the State Agency for Medicinal Products adopted a total of four decisions on damage to the patient's health caused by side effects caused by Covid-19 infections, in two cases with a compensation of €5,000 and another two – €10,000. The total cost of compensation thus amounts to €30,000.

Including the decision taken by the government on Tuesday, ZVA has so far made 8 decisions on compensation costs for residents.

As the so-called technical or temporary state budget is currently in force, refunds will be paid out of the budget of the ZVA.

Compensation may be claimed by people who have been vaccinated in Latvia with a vaccine registered with the European Medicines Agency and the damage to health or life is directly related to the side effect caused by the vaccine, causing permanent or lasting health problems.
