Seven new cases of COVID-19 in Latvia

Seven new cases of COVID-19 were confirmed in Latvia on August 8, with the total number since the start of the pandemic rising to 1,288 on Saturday.

No deaths were recorded, with the fatality toll standing at 32.

The Disease Prevention and Control Center (SPKC) said 1,891 tests had been conducted during the previous 24-hour period. 

In total 211,937 tests have been carried out since February 29.

So far 1,070 patients have recovered from infection.

Seven patients are in hospital, all described as having moderate symptoms of the disease.

 

SPKC added that three of the newly infected patients had been in contact with a previously infected person, one had arrived from Estonia, and the other cases are still being investigated.

The number for medical emergencies is 113, the number for enquiring about a COVID-19 test if you have developed some potential symptoms after returning from overseas or being in contact with someone confirmed as having coronavirus is 8303 and the SPKC COVID-19 advice helpline is 67387661.
