Wednesday brings another 45 Covid deaths in Latvia

A total of 2,718 new cases of Covid-19 infection were added to Latvia's tally November 3, according to the Disease Prevention and Control Center (SPKC).

Of that number, 1,821 were unvaccinated persons, or persons not fully vaccinated, and 897 were fully vaccinated. The total number of cases detected since the start of the pandemic now stands at 224,513.

Of 27,316 tests carried out in the past 24 hours, 10% were positive. The 14-day cumulative morbidity rate per 100,000 population rose slightly from 1746.9 Tuesday to 1753.2.

Sadly 45 more Covid-related deaths were also confirmed, one of the highest daily death tolls of the pandemic. The youngest of the victims were in the 50-59 years age bracket and the oldest in the 90-99 years age bracket. All but four of the fatalities were unvaccinated or not fully vaccinated.

The death toll since the start of the pandemic now stands at 3,354.

The level of hospitalizations continues to be a key indicator as hospitals are stretched to full capacity. Wednesday data show 1,531 patients being treated in hospital with 195 displaying serious symptoms.

Meanwhile in Estonia more than 1,500 cases and 13 deaths were recorded Wednesday and in Lithuania the figures were more than 2,000 cases and 32 deaths.
