Of that number, 1,821 were unvaccinated persons, or persons not fully vaccinated, and 897 were fully vaccinated. The total number of cases detected since the start of the pandemic now stands at 224,513.
Of 27,316 tests carried out in the past 24 hours, 10% were positive. The 14-day cumulative morbidity rate per 100,000 population rose slightly from 1746.9 Tuesday to 1753.2.

Sadly 45 more Covid-related deaths were also confirmed, one of the highest daily death tolls of the pandemic. The youngest of the victims were in the 50-59 years age bracket and the oldest in the 90-99 years age bracket. All but four of the fatalities were unvaccinated or not fully vaccinated.
The death toll since the start of the pandemic now stands at 3,354.

The level of hospitalizations continues to be a key indicator as hospitals are stretched to full capacity. Wednesday data show 1,531 patients being treated in hospital with 195 displaying serious symptoms.
Meanwhile in Estonia more than 1,500 cases and 13 deaths were recorded Wednesday and in Lithuania the figures were more than 2,000 cases and 32 deaths.

The dedicated hotline for Covid-19 related inquiries (24 hours, 7 days a week) is 8345. The number for medical emergencies is 113. There is a Latvian language hotline 8989 which allows people to both register for vaccination and receive answers to questions about the process of vaccination.

If you have been fully vaccinated against Covid-19, or you have fully recovered from a confirmed case of it, you can obtain a digital certificate attesting to your status at the website https://covid19sertifikats.lv/.
Latvia is also part of the European Union's wider Covid-19 certification scheme. All arrivals to the country (including returnees) need to fill in an electronic declaration prior to coming to Latvia.
