Night vision equipment, drones, cars and other equipment was sent from Latvia to Kyiv in another convoy to support both those on the frontline and those trying to deal with the consequences of Kakhovka's floods, Latvian Television reported August 1.

The humanitarian convoy, which on Tuesday, August 1, headed from the Congress Hall to Kyiv, consisted of three area cars, three vans, a boat, a mini-excavator, and other requested assistance.

“What the Ukrainians ask is a little different every time. There need drones very, very  much at the moment because of the counter-attack. There is also a need for medicine, bandages, because unfortunately there are a lot of injured people,” said Rūta Dimanta, head of the charity Ziedot.lv.

There is a constant need for 4x4 cars, both to take the injured and to bring ammunition.

This convoy is made by Ziedot.lv, along with the Andrejs Osokins Freedom Festival, the fund Stopify, the Ukrainian confederation “Viche”, the charity “Sofi” and people's donations.

“We have sent both to Kherson, Kramatorsk, and to other places where there are shelters, where there are animal protection organizations or simply abandoned animals in Ukraine,” said Anastasia Jahova, spokeswoman for the charity Foundation Sofi.

Pianist Andrejs Osokins dedicated his festival to supporting Ukraine for the second consecutive year this year. This year more than 32 thousand euro have been donated. Osokins has also held aid campaigns in which more than 30 thousand meal kits have been sent to Ukraine for soldiers.

“We want Ukraine to be freed from evil and occupation. We saw what they [the Russian army] were doing in every city where they are – Bucha, Irpin, Borodyanka … By the way, we have drawings from children from Irpin. There is an art school, and they made beautiful drawings about the friendship between Latvia and Ukraine,” Osokins said.

There are also a number of Ukrainian child camps currently taking place in Latvia. The children are brought in so that they can live peacefully for at least a week.
