66 more gain Latvian citizenship via naturalization

Take note – story published 4 years ago

February 11 saw another 66 people join the ranks of fully-fledged Latvian citizens following the approval of their status by the cabinet.

The 66, which include two minors, achieved citizenship via the well-established naturalization procedure, bringing the total number of people who have done so since 1995 to 147,259.

So far this year 91 people have naturalized, while in 2019 the total was 808.

In order to become a Latvian citizen by naturalization, a person must prove competence in basic Latvian language skills, as well as successfully pass a test on the Constitution, a test on history and know the text of the national anthem.

Apsveicu (congratulations) to all the new citizens!
