Fuel prices continue falling in Latvia

Take note – story published 8 years ago

Fuel prices are continuing to fall at Latvian gas stations - much like everywhere else due to cheap oil - but it's unlikely that they'll fall below one euro, President of the Latvian Gas Sellers association Ojārs Karčevskis told in an interview to Latvian Television on Thursday.

Fluctuations in oil prices have all but stopped, and cheaper gas is a direct consequence to that. Fuel prices have dropped by 7 euro cents or 9% in the last few months, said Karčevskis, adding that lately prices have been falling every third day.

Nevertheless, falling gas prices in summer are uncommon for Latvia - they are usually growing this time of the year.

Despite a strong downward tendency, gas prices probably won't fall below one euro per liter, even though prices for diesel fuel are near the borderline.

Karčevskis said that the borderline is more of a psychological thing rather than a real barrier that should bring joy once it's stepped over.
