'Stop Covid' app downloaded 300 000 times in Latvia

Since the release of the 'Apturi Covid' (Stop Covid) app, it has been downloaded 300,000 time, Disease Prevention and Control Center (SPKC) said February 16.

The app has helped to notify contact persons 2,976 times.

The application helps in cases where a Covid-19 patient's contacts cannot be detected. For example, if the infected person has forgotten where he or she has been in the days prior.

In order to promote the efficiency of the application, the 'Stop Covid' application in Latvia works together and is compatible with the contact-fixing apps of 11 other European countries: Ireland, Italy, Germany, Spain, Denmark, Croatia, Poland, the Netherlands, Belgium, Finland and Austria.

It has been previously reported that the application often provides delayed results but still is considered useful by epidemiologists.
