Take note – story published 3 years ago

This weekend, take some time to learn more about the neighborhoods of Riga: be it a fast-paced challenge, a peaceful tour or an informative exhibit!

Expedition to Maskavas Forštate

On July 5, get out for an active day in the legendary neighborhood of Maskavas Forštate or 'Maskatchka', in teams or alone, with exploratory tasks along the way. Pay attention to what you don't notice every day and find out more about places, people, and things around you.

Event takes place from  10:00 to 14:00, starting and finishing in Spīķeri. Information on the event and tickets available on  Facebook.

Riga Legends

It might or might not have happened. In case you prefer a slower, guided tour around Old Riga, filled with legends and historical hearsay, the Riga Legends tour is right for you: be ready on July 5 at 10:00. Sign up by calling 26188059 or e-mail [email protected] . More information on  Facebook.

Exhibition "Fading Torņakalns"

From June 2 to September 12, the Ojāra Vācieša Museum (Ojāra Vācieša Street 19, Riga) is hosting a photograph exhibition showing video and photo documents on the environmental and architectural sites of the Torņakalns neighborhood, which, after the construction of the Rail Baltica railway, will never be seen in the current form. It is important to leave at least video and photo evidence on what Torņakalns' neighborhood looked like in the past in order to preserve Riga's historical and cultural heritage for future generations.

Exhibition  is open Tue-Sat from 10:00 to 17:00.
