Early summer forecast for Latvia

A few days after cold records in Latvia, the meteorological summer will gradually start, according to the latest weather forecasts.

The meteorological summer starts when the average daily air temperature for five consecutive days is +15 C or higher.

It is expected that the beginning of the meteorological summer will be registered at some observation stations in the second half of this week, and there is a strong possibility that it will also start across the country as a whole.

According to the data of the Latvian Environment, Geology, and Meteorology Center, the meteorological summer usually starts in June, but for example in 2018 it started on May 9.

In 1961-1990, the average length of summer was 74 days, 85 days in 1981-2010, and even 127 days in 2018.

According to the Global Forecast System, dry and sunny weather will persist in Latvia this weekend, and a slow wind will blow. The maximum air temperature will be +19 C to +24 C, a few degrees less off the coast, with the wind blowing from the sea.

Rain clouds are likely to reach Latvia at the beginning of next week, but it will still be warm.
