Weekend promises respite from heat in Latvia

In the coming days weather will be cooler and windy in Latvia, and rain is expected more often, according to forecasts by weatherman Toms Bricis.

A rainfall zone will cross Latvia from the west on the night to Saturday. In the middle of the night it will be raining in Kurzeme, also in the central part of the country in the morning, and in the east over the course of the day. There is also a possibility of thunderstorms.

The rainfall will stop on the night to Sunday, but in the afternoon there will be more short-term rains.

The air temperature on both weekend days will be within +18 C to +24 C.

The west and south-west wind will also intensify, gusting at times 12-17 meters per second.

The current forecasts show that Sunday, during the Song and Dance Festival parade, it will be raining in Rīga, especially in the afternoon. Air temperature will not exceed +20 C in the afternoon.

At the beginning of the new week, the wind will grow even stronger. It is likely that the gusts will break individual branches and even trees.

The start of the week will also be cool, but temperatures will gradually rise in the second half of next week, with a high likelihood of the heat returning.
