The cold will be made to feel even more unpleasant by strong northeasterly winds with gusts reaching 10-15 meters per second.
The freeze will gradually diminish in the second half of the week, but with easterly winds continuing, night-time temperatures will still be in the range of -10 to -19 C.
Major changes are expected on Sunday or Monday, when southerly and southwesterly winds will take over, bringing warmer air systems with them. Around 4-5- March temperatures may once again rise above freezing point.
