This week, air temperatures in Latvia are likely to fall below -20 C but it will become warmer over the weekend, according to forecasts available to the newswire LETA. 

There will be little snowfall and the sky will be clear, and only on the west coast of the Gulf of Rīga a strong snowfall is possible. The wind will be slow, but it might intensify on Friday. 

The coldest weather is awaited Tuesday/Wednesday night when it is likely to drop below -20 C in many parts of the country. Nearly all throughout the country, the lowest temperature will be below -10 C, whereas the highest will range between -5 C and -13 C.

The weather will become significantly warmer by the end of the next week's, and a thaw is likely to start.
