Weather promises clear skies until midweek

Take note – story published 6 years ago

In the first half of the week, the weather in Latvia will remain sunny and warm, but in the second half of the week, days will be colder and cloudier in most parts, according to weatherman Toms Bricis.

Until Wednesday, there will be no major changes in weather conditions, with clear skies and warm temperatures continuing.

The temperature of the air at night will drop to +3 to + 8 degrees, and in some places there may be a morning frost, but along the coast nights will be warmer at +9 to + 12 degrees. During the day, the air temperature will climb as high as + 20 degrees with light eastern winds.

Thursday will becoming more and more cloudy with some mist and possibly small rain showers, but the slow easterly winds should prevent any heavy downpours. Temperatures will drop slightly around +15 degress the highest to be expected.

And in a nice addition to his usual duties, Toms has also turned into a fake news hunter -- or in this case fake weather, pouring cold water on internet claims that this winter will be the coldest for 100 years. In a special video blog, Toms reveals that the source of such predictions is a low quality 'weather' site in the UK that managed to drum up  lot of naive clicks by making the dramatic but scientifically questionable prediction as a promotion stunt.
