Weather week in Latvia: unseasonably warm, seasonably wet

Take note – story published 4 years ago

This week is likely to be unseasonably warm - and rather wet - according to LSM's resident forecaster Toms Bricis.

After a windy but warm Monday, when temperatures in Latgale could even reach +18 Celsius to + 19 C, on Tuesday the wind will swing around from the southeast and ease off, while temperatures will drop to from +9 C to + 14 C during the day.

On Wednesday we will experience very gusty southerly winds, and warmer air will be blowing in again, allowing temperatures to rise to +14 C to + 19 C, with some rain, mainly expected in Kurzeme region. This mini heatwave could be enough to make this the warmest mid-October on record, but that remains to be seen.

Thursday and Friday will be slightly cooler with a return to the +9 C to + 14 C temperature range, but things look more promiding at the weekend with sunshine, generally dry conditions and temperatures of +11 C to + 16 C.
