Genādijs has spent his entire life outside his family. He lived at an orphanage, studied at a boarding school and lived at care homes. He has spent time at a psychiatric hospital as well. But his story is not unique in Latvia. Even when they are able to look after themselves, people with intellectual disabilities continue their life inside institutions.
