Samanta Tina will retain her Eurovision ticket

Take note – story published 3 years ago

Latvian Eurovision hopeful Samanta Tina may have missed out on a trip to the vast port of Rotterdam this year due to the coronavirus, but on May 16 it was revealed her ticket will be rescheduled rather than cancelled and she will be Latvia's Eurovision entrant next year instead.

Tina took part in a pan-European special subsitute show "Eurovision 2020: Europe shines!" with her topically-titled song "Still Breathing", which you can watch above (may be subject to geoblocking, depending upon your location).

Upon being informed that Rotterdam remains on her agenda, she said: "Oh God, how beautiful! Really? Crazy, how nice!"

According to a press release from Latvian Television, though her place next year is guaranteed - barring acts of God or future epidemics - she will have to sing a different song.

That makes it likely that next year's Supernova song for Europe will transform into Supernova song for Samanta Tina, but LTV said the exact format is still being worked out "in consultation with Samantha Tina" to "look for solutions to find a song that could captivate Europe next year."
