Supernova Saturday is here for Eurovision optimists

In case it had slipped your mind Saturday, February 10 will see Latvia choose its contestant for the 2024 Eurovision Song Contest which takes place in Sweden in May.

Tune in to LTV's 'Supernova' show from 21:10 on Saturday to see ten acts duking it out for a ticket across the Baltic Sea. It will be possible to watch online around the world at LTV's RE:play.lv dedicated online broadcast site.

Whoever wins will be full of hope but also aware of Latvia's dismal recent record in Eurovision. Latvia has not made a Eurovision final since 2016. Every year there is great optimism that the sequence will be broken and every year the only thing broken is the dream that the rejection will end. Will this year be any different? Probably not, but hope springs eternal.

The European Broadcasting Union (EBU) which bears responsibility for Eurovision, has even produced its own preview of Saturday's Supernova, including a run-down of the acts and songs, which you can read at: https://eurovision.tv/story/latvia-2024-guide-supernova.

Fifteen acts took part in the solitary 'semi-final' last week and only five were eliminated as a result of a public vote and the decisions of a mysterious "expert jury", the composition of which is unknown.
