Read and exchange books outdoors in Sigulda

Sigulda Municipality Culture Center has opened an outdoor reading spot, as well as a book exchange spot, Latvian Radio said August 2.

This is the first outdoor reading space in Sigulda and the fourth spot to leave unneeded books in exchange for others.

Sigulda Municipality Council spokeswoman Sindija Brikmane said this reading space would be open during favorable weather conditions, however, rainy days should not deter readers:

"This reading and exchange spot by Sigulda Culture Center is the only one with bean bags and pillows outside, under clear sky. In the future, there are plans to organize poetry readings and children's story readings. A little event space for residents. But, for example, the book exchange spot in the Sigulda train station building is a good opportunity to grab a book for the train journey. This is a good initiative and residents appreciate it," said Brikmane.

Currently, there are four exchange spots in Sigulda: the newly opened outdoor spot by the Culture Center (Zinātnes Street 7B), Sigulda train station, shopping center "Raibais Suns" and Youth Initiative center "Mērķis".
