RFS crowned football champions of Latvia again

A win in the penultimate round of matches in the top Latvian footbal league, the Virsliga, secured a second back-to-back championship title for the RFS club November 3.

RFS beat Grobiņa/LFS 2-0 away from home to claim the points what were enough to ensure that second-place rivals FK Rīga cannot now overtake them, regardless of what happens in next week's final round of matches when the two teams clash.

After less than 20 minutes of play, Roberts Savalnieks took the lead with a long-range shot and in the 72nd minute, Cedric Kouadio doubled the lead with a title-clinching goal.

After 35 rounds, RFS football players secured their second consecutive championship title with 90 points.
