Latvia battles for bronze medal Sunday at hockey World Championship

Take note – story published 1 year and 5 months ago

Latvia's ice hockey team is back in action one last time at the IIHF World Chapmpionship in Tampere, Finland, May 28 with a bronze medal on the line.

The national team will meet the young USA national team in Finland on Sunday in the game for 3rd place. It's already the most successful World Championship campaign in Latvia's hockey history, and a taking home a medal would be seen as a major achievement.

As usual LSM and LTV7 will carry the game live. The Latvia-USA match itself starts at 15:20 local time, with warm-up coverage for nearly an hour before that. Later in the day the final of the tournament between Canada and Germany will take place at 20:20, bringing the curtain down on a memorable World Championship in which Latvia played its part both as a team and as co-hosts with Finland.

Sunday will again see fan zones with big screens in Dome Square and on the Esplanāde in central Rīga for those wishing to soak in the atmosphere.
