The Z-Towers are nearing the final phase of construction, all that is left is for it to be commissioned. The Riga City Construction Board Director announced that this is being denied due to shortcomings determined by the construction board.
Instead of mitigating these issues, the project developer has complained to Mayor Burovs about the construction board, claims Vircavs.
A meeting was called involving all interested parties, during which Vircavs claimed that pressure had been exerted from the mayor to deem the building operational. Burovs tells a different version of the meeting and denies that he had exerted pressure on the construction board.
Burovs also emphasises that the construction board should be forthcoming towards such investors.
The City Council City Development Committee held an emergency meeting on November 6, while the project developer is turning to the government, State Police and anti-graft bureau.
"We've sent an official letter to the State Police and anti-graft bureau stating that an official or group may be overstepping their authority in deliberately delaying the commissioning of the building," Tower Construction Management Commercial Director Andžejs Neguliners announced to the media.
The 30-story skyscraper has encountered several technical and financial issues since the project began in 2006.
